Floral motif sculpted and carved, soda fired mug by Janet Moran, in a beautiful pale teal celedon glaze with crazing and copper red highlights. Soda firing is an atmospheric pottery technique where soda ash or baking soda are introduced into a hot kiln. The soda vaporizes, circulating through the kiln to fuse with the silica in the clay and glazes, creating vibrant surface textures and color gradients. Inspired by patterns found in architecture, furniture design, and botanicals, Janet’s ceramic work is frequently fired in this dynamic atmosphere. This beautiful handcrafted cup is functional, food safe, and microwave and dishwasher friendly.
